When the 100+ Women Who Care about Snohomish County came together to create a giving circle back in 2019, they were looking to make a tangible difference in their own backyard.

The premise was simple: combine their resources with local nonprofits and leverage their collective power to impact local communities. Members donate $100 each and the group votes to support a local nonprofit that is having a positive impact in Snohomish County.

A couple of weeks ago, this group of changemakers chose to support the Interfaith Family Shelter. Co-founder, Susan Rieke, was all smiles as she presented us with a check for $35,690. “We’re very honored to present the Interfaith Family Shelter with this check,” she stated, adding that “This is our 20th Giving Circle, and it brings us close to almost half a million dollars that our group has raised to support local nonprofits.”

Longtime Interfaith supporter, Patti Larson, has been a member of the 100+ Women Who Care about Snohomish County ever since it began, and she first nominated our organization as a potential recipient back in 2019. “I was a member of the church across the street (Our Lady of Hope parish, Everett), and I knew the former Executive Director, Jim Dean,” she shared. “My husband, Russ, and I have been donors for many years, and we know all about the fantastic work that Interfaith does in our community.”

Janet Bacon (co-founder of 100+ Women Snohomish County) congratulates Interfaith for being selected as the October 2025 recipient.

Longtime donor, Patti Larson, first nominated Interfaith as a potential recipient back in 2019.

The 100+ Women Who Care have supported several regional nonprofits across a variety of sectors, programs, and community outcomes, including: food banks, elderly and senior care, workforce employment and development, homelessness, and youth welfare. The total amount raised is supplemented by generous matching gifts from other local donors, as well as the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation.

This gift will support our unique Children’s Program, which serves infants, toddlers, young children, and youth across all our shelter locations. “The work that you do is a blessing to our whole county,” said Rieke.
